The Large Yacht Brokers Association (LYBRA) has announced plans to launch a new show in Barcelona. The Superyacht Show, as it will be known, will take place in OneOcean Port Vell from May 2-5.
The aim of the show is to offer both potential superyacht buyers and charters the chance to step on board some of the world’s leading yachts in an exclusive and private setting. A selection of hand-picked luxury products and high-end lifestyle brands will compliment the on-water display.
Jonathan Becket, president of LYBRA, said: “The idea of a client-focused show was put forward several years ago and we’ve been working on the details for quite some time. We have a great team in place and while our expectations for the first year are modest, I’m confident we’re laying a very solid foundation for the future.”
All nine member companies of LYBRA will participate in the inaugural show, including Burgess, Camper & Nicholsons International, Edmiston & Company, Fraser, IYC, Merle Wood & Associates, Northrop & Johnson, Ocean Independence and Yachtzoo. The organisers plan to expand the line-up in 2019 to incorporate several major shipyards as well.
Eric Blair, secretary general of LYBRA added: “Our members are acutely aware of their responsibility to exhibit their client’s vessels at a time and place that is most likely to produce serious enquiries from qualified buyers. Over time, we therefore plan to develop the show into the definitive, pre-summer buying opportunity in the Mediterranean.”
