The XIV King’s cup for vintage boats – PANERAI. Menorca classic sailing

Brief History of the Regatta

Since 2005 the regatta has been part of the CIM Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge circuit, so it also becomes PANERAI TROPHY and the Spanish stage of the international circuit of regattas of greater prestige reserved exclusively for classic and vintage sailing ships.
This annual event, in 2009 was not held, so in 2011 this regatta reaches its eighth edition. Since 2008 it is also scoring for the Spanish Championship of Class and Classic boats organized by the RFEV in collaboration with the RANC and since 2010 of the Classical Trophy Mare Nostrum.
The Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge 2011 includes two Circuits, American and Mediterranean, whose stages, in addition to the King Cup of Mahon, are Les Voiles d'Antibes, Argentario Sailing Week, Panerai British Classic Week Points to the Panerai Trophy of the Mediterranean), Le Vele d'Epoca to Porto Rotondo and Les Régates Royales de Cannes.

The most beautiful ships in the world, a true museum with candles that are in themselves a symbol of naval art, evoking the history, tradition and exploits of ancient sailors, are the heart and the strength of this regatta, in which Have participated in a total of 144 boats, as emblematic as Agneta, Alba, Altaïr, America, Amorita, Astarte II, Avel, Bonafide, Cambria, Calima, Capricia, Creole, Eleonora, Emeraude, Galvana, Gipsy, Giralda, Giraldilla, Ilex, Marigan, Mariquita, Mariette, Mercury, Orion of the Seas, Outlaw, Pesa, Rosalind, Rowdy, Sonata, Stella Polare, Stormvogel, Thendara, Veronique, Yanira ... to name a few.

It is fascinating to be able to contemplate these ladies of the sea, sailing in the port of natural shelter of Mahón, from the antiquity one of the most strategic of all the western Mediterranean and that has a very high power of convocation by the singular beauty of its landscapes, besides the Magnificent spectacle offered by sailboats in regatta in the crystalline waters of Menorca that enjoy a great variety of winds.
